Stores, Panic, and Time.

It was a warm and sunny summer Friday. I had a good friend over,  everything I needed, and best of all… MONEY TO SPEND ON MY FAVORITE SNACKS! What could go wrong? Everything would soon go askew, just with one phone notification.

Around 4:30pm, I leave the house with my friend, with the intent of walking to my local 7-Eleven. As I’m walking, I question if I could get home before 5:30pm. You may ask, what was at 5:30? My evening piano class with one of my favorite teachers. I check my phone’s faithful Calendar app, immediately being sent into an oblivion of surprised Pikachu levels of shock. My class wasn’t at 5:30, it was at 5! By then, It was 4:49, and I was beyond annoyed with myself. While leaving the store, I call my mom, putting it on phone-to-ear mode, not quite wanting to subject my friend to my Mom’s anger.

“You better get your butt home, or you’re in trouble!” my disappointed/annoyed Mom says. I say goodbye to my angry mother, then pull up the route to home on Google Maps. The ETA is 5:05.. Being scared of my mom’s possible punishment, I run home Sonic The Hedgehog style, running so fast my iPhone mistook my panting, and stepping sounds for glass breaking. (I don’t know either.)

I get home at 5:00 sharp, having tired legs, a parched throat, and a VERY confused friend. I get into piano class, my teacher excusing my tardiness. I was happy that day, as Mom’s wrath didn’t reach me. Alls well that ends well. I was not punished, my friend was.. somewhere eating Cheetos, my Mom was content, I was sweaty and ready to go, and both my Mom and Dad were now watching TV.
